In just a couple of weeks I will be the proud owner of a gym membership. I'm really looking forward to getting my too large bottom back in to the gym and pounding the treadmill. I'm still not cleared for jogging or lifting weights because of my neck but that is not going to stop me from getting back to the gym.
Instead of just walking on the treadmill I decided that once I covet the membership I will pay the extra fee in order to attend drop-in classes. The more exercise one can add, the better. I'm not going to over-do it, rather challenge my body in new ways to help aide the weight-loss process!
The schedule for the drop-in classes will look like this:
Mondays 7-8pm: Yoga
Tuesdays 7-8: Shallow Aqua Fit
Thursdays 7-8: Shallow Zumba Fit
I enjoy yoga. In the last three years yoga has helped my back in tremendous ways to aid the healing process. The poses I have learned help elongate the spine to take the pressure off the lower spinal disks and when I hear the cracking sounds... it feels so good.
I also love being in the water. If our skin didn't wrinkle and get sore from being too wet I would definitely live in the water. I might have been a fish in a previous life. I love swimming. Swimming is also a great form of exercise especially when you have a lower body injury. Working out in water in concert with physiotherapy, I believe, helped speed up the recovery process. You're working twice as hard in the water versus being on ground. It's great and I feel so incredible afterward! I highly recommend it. Just check with your doctor before you start working out when you experience any type of injury.
FYI... Tuesday after work I walked three blocks after taking the bus home from work.... and I really enjoyed it. Plus the temperature was -38C with the windchill. Great exercise!
Do you do one thing to work out or do you add more?

Thanks for the inspiration. I've been procrastinating about putting my workout schedule together for the next few weeks, now I just might go on and do it.
